This past Monday, the annual sophomore trip proved to be a great success. At Whitestone Lanes, students spent the day bowling and playing arcade games with their friends. The positive response was overwhelming, with students left pleased and relaxed. Sophomore Dino Mulani described the event as “a great time to just let loose and take a break from all the stress of school.” Sophomore Faye Shemper recalled that she “enjoyed sharing laugh after laugh with my friends both as we hit strikes and as the gutters worked their magic!”
Along with all the entertainment, there was also an educational component of the trip. Students were given the opportunity to design their own app for bowling. When asked about the objective of her app, Sophomore Emily Tan explained that it as “to teach how to bowl through a virtual game interface.” In addition to the fun activities at the lanes, she stated, “I enjoyed the brainstorming of a creative idea and drawing my ideas out on the paper.” Student submissions will be chosen and given the chance of a feature in the app.
The event was made possible through the collaboration of the sophomore grade leaders, Freshman-Sophomore Class President Annlin Su, and Ms. Oberlander. For the planning of next year’s trip, they hope to incorporate suggestions from students. Ms. Oberlander will be sending a feedback form on the trip shortly.
