Although 2021 has come to an end, the production of movies and television series across all media platforms is more constant than ever. Here are some of the most anticipated new films and TV shows soon to be released in 2022.
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary Reunion: Return to Hogwarts
With the release of the first Harry Potter movie in 2001 and the last in 2011, the characters haven’t returned to the fantasy school of Hogwarts in a while (excluding The Cursed Child Broadway show and Fantastic Beasts film series). But recently, original cast members got back together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the franchise. Reminiscing about both the filming process and the story itself, they share their favorite memories and reflect on how Harry Potter has not only played a huge part in viewers’ childhoods, but in their own lives as well. The reunion is currently streaming onHBO MAX.
Turning Red
This highly-anticipated new film introduces the newest Disney-Pixar character Meilin Lee, an ambitious 13-year old girl who’s not afraid to be herself and show her true personality. However, one day she discovers that she has the ability to turn into a giant red panda. In this coming-of-age piece, Meilin has to learn how to control her powers and handle the expectations of becoming a dutiful daughter. Turning Red will arrive in theaters on March 11.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Following the 2016 movie and official teaser in one of the post-credit scenes at the end of the latest Spider-Man movie Spider-Man: No Way Home, the long awaited Doctor Strange sequel is finally here. With the complexity of time and the fragility of the multiverse in crisis, Doctor Strange is now facing the consequences of what took place in the previous Marvel films and television shows such as Avengers: Endgame and WandaVision. Wanda Maximoff, who appeared in the teaser,will also make an appearance. This movie will hit theaters on May 6, 2022.
Stranger Things 4
After three years, the Netflix hit series Stranger Things returns with new characters, settings, and menacing villains. The continuation will expand on how the main characters have changed since the events of season three, as well as the adventures in store for them next. Undoubtedly, the plot will be a rollercoaster of events, and will have fans on the edge of their seats once again. Although no official release date has been announced, it is rumored to drop sometime during the summer of 2022.
