As the spring sports season progresses and the teams begin to prepare for the final round of games or playoffs, Matthew Lemanczyk, the Boys Varsity Baseball Coach, reflects and shares his excitement for the season. With experience as a minor league baseball player and over 15 years of coaching experience at several different high schools, as well as travel baseball programs, he is hoping to lead the team to a successful season on the field.

Reflecting on his time coaching, Mr. Lemanczyk said,  “[seeing my team] grow season after season [and teaching]players that enjoy learning the game,” has all brought him joy.

Each season is a fresh start for Mr. Lemanczyk, but he is able to use the previous season as a guide to “improve each player on the team, ultimately putting the team in the best position possible to be successful.”

Senior Jeremy Diaz has been on the team since freshman year and shares his gratitude for having Mr. Lemanczyk as a coach. He describes Mr. Lemanczyk as “patient” and “experienced.” “The team wouldn’t be nearly as good without him and the environment he creates for newer players,” he said. Sophomore Dexter Park said, “[Mr. Lemanczyk is] very hard-working yet easy-going.”

Junior Imran Baig, said that Mr. Lemanczyk “has been the driving force in ensuring our team is successful. Through the repeated reps we take both on the field and off, Coach prepares us for nearly every possible situation we can face in this game.”

When describing the THHS students on the baseball team, Mr. Lemanczyk said,  “[they are] determined, hard-working and willing to do whatever it takes to be successful.” He even shared that all the members of the baseball team possess these attributes, which should make for a rewarding season. His goal for now is to make it to the playoffs, while keeping the team dedicated and hard-working.
