The Townsend Harris Girls’ Varsity Bowling Team kept their record perfect as they routed last place Jamaica High School 3-0. It was a no contest, as Jamaica bowled abysmal scores of 243 and 277 in the first two games that kept them from even having a chance at winning the match-up.
Seniors Ellen Huynh, Jamie Pfeiffer, Morgan Wu, Rebecca Lee, Veronica Nguyen, and Mahwish Waseem kept up their streak of great scores bowled, and Freshman Mya Allen and Sophomore Jada Allred both bowled season-high scores. Both Mya and Jada stepped their game up in Game C to prevent a surging Jamaica team from winning a game.
The girls weren’t as happy with the win, despite the final score. “Our scores weren’t as high as they usually were, but we won our A and B game simply because we were better than our opposing team,” said Senior Jamie Pfeiffer, who bowled a 121 and led the Lady Hawks in most pins scored.
The Jamaica High School team has yet to win a game this year. In fact, they haven’t won a single game since the 2011-2012 season. The Lady Hawks’ victory was well deserved, and they hope to continue their winning streak.
