On May 14, the boys varsity volleyball team defeated the Franklin D. Roosevelt Cougars in the first round of the “A” Division playoffs on their home court, marking the Hawks’ first home playoff match in more than two years.
The team performed well, picking up nine aces, with four of them coming from seniors captain Nathaniel Cheng and Michael Jazgarski. Junior Robert Davydov had 15 of the Hawks’ 20 assists. The Hawks also had five blocks and six digs.
The boys were seeded eleventh in the “A” Division, an improvement from their 25th seed last year.
Although the Hawks reached the second round in the playoffs, something that they failed to do last season, they were eliminated two sets to one by the sixth seeded High School of Enviromental Studies on May 16, ending their season.
