The Boys Badminton Team is off to a strong start this fall, defeating Thomas Edison in their season opener last week, across three singles and two doubles. The team won all five competitions.
The toughest competition came in the first singles, where junior Bhuri Limlertvate still earned a 3-0 victory with the scorelines 21-15, 21-10, and 21-12. Coach Matthew Lemanczyk praised Bhuri’s playstyle.
“Bhuri really set the tone for us in center court as he is a very explosive player,” Mr. Lemanczyk said.

For first doubles, senior Rory Xiao and sophomore Louis Cheng also earned a 3-0 victory across 3 sets, 21-8, 21-11, and 21-9.
Despite the comfortable final score, Rory said that he believes he did not give his best performance possible: “I think I could’ve done better by varying my shots and being more consistent.”
Though the team is off to a strong start this season, Rory said each match provides valuable experience for growth and it’s important to notlet one win overtake you. “It is important to never be overconfident, especially at the start,” said Rory.
Senior Alvin Lin, who participated in the exhibition match along with junior Jia Hong Ni echoed this mindset: “Practice matches…will allow me to get used to hard shots and the flow of the game more.”
Coach Lemanczyk praised the entire team for their perseverance.
“We’ve been doing a lot of conditioning and they were able to fight through some of the different aches and pains they had to execute the shots they needed to in order for the 5-0 victory tonight,” Coach Lemanczyk said.
