On December 21, the Boys Track Team geared up for their 4th meet of the season, the legendary Bishop Loughlin Games at the Armory, gathering both public and catholic schools. This race marked a very important moment for two runners, senior Christian Castro and freshmen Muhamed Bicic both breaking breaking 5 minutes on the one mile run marking a huge personal victory for both athletes. Muhamed ended with a time of 4:58 followed by Christian with a time of 4:59. Christian said, “Breaking five after spending six months of training was probably the best early Christmas present I’ve ever gotten. I was in a state of euphoria. I was so excited and I knew my work had finally paid off .” the Townsend team also placed 6th in the sophomore 800 meter sprint medley relay out of a total of 48 teams. An overall successful meet for the Townsend boys have kept them focused and ready for their upcoming meets hoping to break new records and keeping the hard work.
