On May 15, the boys baseball team prefaced their last regular season home game against Robert F. Kennedy High School with their ritual senior day,  in which teammates and fellow parents offered seniors flowers. The team defeated RFK in the fifth inning by mercy rule, marking another successful win. Although an easy win, such games have helped to increase the team’s confidence for the playoff season ahead.

THHS started off the game strong with a one-run lead in the top of the first. The Hawks continued strong all throughout the upcoming innings, only allowing RFK to score two runs in the bottom of the fifth. The game ended with a score of 12-2, THHS.

Senior Harry Quinn held his own throughout the whole game, making 83 pitches and striking out a total of nine batters. Sophomore Evan Noblesala had three hits in four atbats, and scored two runs.

Sophomore John Mullane was ecstatic at the team’s victory and is very hopeful for their future in the playoffs. Regarding the team’s win, John said, “Overall, the game was a great success, and is what ultimately gave us the momentum to win.”

Freshman Michael Guzman was overjoyed by the victory and seemed excited for playoffs. He also recalled the Transit Tech CTE High School as a previous competitor in past years. Although nervous, Guzman is very hopeful for the team’s success in the future.

In the first round of playoffs, the Hawks, seeded 17th in the B Division, faced off against the William E. Grady Falcons, seeded 16th. The Hawks defeated the Falcons 8-1 to advance to the second round against number one seed and former divisional rival Transit Tech CTE High School.

In the first inning, the Hawks scored four runs, two on a two-run triple by sophomore Mason Rivero. According to captain and  senior Daniel Restifo, from those four runs,  “We didn’t look back from there.”
