This year Townsend Harris welcomes a new club: Ballroom Dance.
Junior Yuiry Markovetskity founded the club with the help of Spanish teacher Christian Castillo. Its first meeting was March 3.
“My love and passion for dance and movement has driven me throughout my life in the worst and my best times..I really wanted to share me passion with others,” Yuiry said.
The passion for dance can lead to new friendships, as participants use dance as a medium to build social skills. “Ballroom Dance Club is almost about ballroom dancing – communicating with your partner to create a beautiful sequence of movements,” sophomore Noorshifa Arssath remarked.
