The boys basketball team opened their season on their home court with a tough loss to one of their rivals, The Scholars’ Academy, on December 2. The final score after 32 minutes was 60-69.
For the most part, the juniors led the team in scoring. Junior and center Jozef Nikaj was the team’s top scorer, scoring 20 points off 10 two point field goals. Junior Milan Majstorovic followed him with 13 points, nine of which were three point shots. He also led the team in a number of assists. Junior Robert Davydov was the team’s third top scorer, shooting 11 points throughout the whole game.
While the rest of the team had a hard time getting their shots into the basket, this was not the case for the opposing team, which ultimately led to their victory. Although Scholars only had seven members present at their game and on their roster, compared to THHS’ 14 players, each player of Scholars contributed at least three points to their total. THHS had a tougher time getting points on the board and working as a team.
Senior captain Edward Lu said, “I’m not exactly enthusiastic about what happened. We had no defense and the other team was hitting their shots.”
