Taking their season one game at a time, the THHS boys baseball team continued their winning streak with a record of 4-0. On April 3, the THHS baseball team won 11-1 against Robert F. Wagner High School.
After playing an extra inning for a tough win against the same team two days ago, the THHS boys went into Thursday’s game ready to play another tough one. Freshmen Alexander Lebeau gave the team confidence with his pitching. Senior captain Daniel Restifo said, “We came in with a nice level of confidence behind Lebeau on the hill and when we were up at the plate.”
From the beginning, the Hawks started off strong while Wagner did just the opposite. Robert F. Wagner was low on pitching and their pitcher even hit junior Dylan Biscardi while he was at bat. Meanwhile, on the defensive side, Alexander pitched a great game. Although THHS had an early lead, they did not let up their game or make use of the mercy rule until the bottom of the fourth inning. Junior left field Charlie Bennett led the team with four runs batted in to help his team beat Robert F Wagner 11-1.
After the game, sophomore Evan Moblesara said that their coach was proud of the team for coming out strong after such a tough game against the same team who came back to tie THHS several times previously. He commented, “We were defensively sound and patient at the plate.”
After getting off to such a strong start this season, Dylan is taking the season one game at the time. He said, “As long as we continue to play our baseball, there is no doubt we can go far this season. But, for now, we take it game to game, day to day, and live in the moment. This way, things will fall into place in the future.”
