Students completing their chemistry lab during normal school hours.
For years, students who needed to acquire their lab hours to take the biology or chemistry Regents examinations have had to arrive at school at 7:05 AM for zero band lab once a week. This school year, there has been an elimination of zero band lab for underclassmen in biology and chemistry classes. The lab classes are now scheduled to meet once a week during normal school hours in a different band than a student’s regular science class. Following these changes, two of the remaining four class days when students do not attend lab class are scheduled for 9th and 10th grade PE. The other two days are dedicated to one day for study hall and one day for a lab class.
As we approach mid-October, students have now settled into their new schedules. The Classic interviewed students about their opinion on the elimination of biology and chemistry zero band for underclassmen.
