Girls basketball takes on Bryant

On December 18th, the girls varsity basketball team hosted the William C. Bryant High School Lady Owls. The Hawks handily beat of the Lady Owls 45-23 and improved to 6-0 on the season. The Hawks dominated from the start taking an 11-5 lead in the first quarter, a lead they would not relinquish. The Hawks’ best offensive quarter was the third, in which they score 18 points. The Hawks had 20 total rebounds, 15 assists, 19 two-point field goals, one three-point field goal, and four made free throws. Junior guard Debra Chan lead the Lady Hawks  with 18 points and seven assists to lead the team in each category. The girls extended their regular season game winning streak to an impressive 40 games, and six games to start off this year. The Hawks are the only undefeated team in the Queens A West Division at 6-0. They sit one game ahead of both Benjamin N. Cardozo High School and John Bowne High School. The Hawks’ next game is Friday, January 3rd, 2014 against the Flushing High School Lady Red-devils.
